Introduction

Melanotan is commonly used for skin tanning. It is also used to produce erections in men with erectile dysfunction (ED), for rosacea, for fibromyalgia, and other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support most of these uses. There is also concern that Melanotan might not be safe when used as a shot under the skin.

How it works?

Melanotan II non-selectively mimics the action of melanocortin peptides. These are natural hormones involved with pigmentation, energy homeostasis, sexual functioning, the immune system, inflammation, and the cardiovascular system. Much like melanotan I (afamelanotide), Melanotan II stimulates the production of eumelanin, causing the skin to go darker (tanning).
Melanotan II is usually administered as an injection of liquid underneath the skin, commonly every second day. Trials have shown that the tanning effect can occur within 5 doses.

Side Effects

When given as a shot: Melanotan is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when given as a shot. It can cause nausea, stomach cramps, decreased appetite, flushing, tiredness, yawning, darkened skin, spontaneous erections of the penis, and other side effects. In some people, especially those with light skin, a change in the shape of moles, new moles, and skin cancer, have all occurred in people using Melanotan.
When sprayed in the nose: There isn’t enough reliable information to know if Melanotan is safe or what the side effects might be.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: There isn’t enough reliable information to know if Melanotan is safe to use when pregnant or breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

Erectile dysfunction (ED). Most early research suggests that giving Melanotan as a shot under the skin helps men with erectile dysfunction achieve and keep an erection. However, side effects like nausea mean that this is not the best product to use. Also, Melanotan is now only available as an unregulated product over the internet.

Conclusion

Melanotan II has not been fully tested, and due to its potential side effects it is not recommended that anybody use this drug.
No evidence exists for the use of melatonin II in pregnancy or breast feeding but it is recommended that it should be avoided.

It made me a bit sick too during the buildup. Next time I will just use 100mcg a day and slowly do it until I get the desired tan. Maintenance is easy, but when I bumped anything past 100mcg I got nauseous and felt like crap. I would also suggest trying it by itself and not throwing it in the mix of a bunch of different compounds. It’ll eat a week up trying to figure out what it is. Best and deepest tan I’ve ever had though and then you’ll have to deal with the “how come you’re so tan? Tanning isn’t good for you, you know.” Last guy that told me this was 70 years old with a huge gut and I held my tongue…

i can tell you from experience that it absolutely increases libido at a very high extent and it absolutely will get you dark, FAST, HOWEVER, i could not endure it… i tried 5 different companies and ALL made me sicker than a dog EVERY DAMN TIME i used them… it never failed and for me, I can tan far better ways than having to deal with throwing up after every injection within just a few minutes… definitely not for me..

Unbelievably amazing! I have NEVER been able to get a tan. I kept from enjoying the ocean and going to the beach. So many events I missed out on growing up because I would burn terribly, even if only in the sun for 20 minutes. 99% of the trips/vacations I went on, I ended up having to spend indoors, laying in the bed covered in aloe, in pain and unable to move. This stuff has been Pure FREEDOM! I cannot believe how tan I have become and I can enjoy days out on the boat and on the beach. No longer embarrassed to wear shorts or hide my skin. This product has truly Changed my life!! I have such confidence and can ENJOY the outdoors without fear. I experienced NO side effects. I began very slowly .015 to .025 and currently at .040. I did take 1/2 antihistamine in the beginning but now it is no longer needed. Not once did I experience any ill effects. Go slowly, take your time… it will come. Going slowly also reduces the moles/freckles you’ll see. Even if you do see darker ones, they soon will blend with your new tanned skin. I would only recommend this to those who cannot tan; redheads like me. If you can tan, it is better to do so without this. Injecting is painless but does require commitment. So happy this exists!!
